ToolBox Image is a small team obsessed with one thing: making image work feel instant, private, and pleasant. We started because every other "free" image tool wanted something in return — your files, your data, or your patience.

Principles

Three rules. Everything else is a detail.

Privacy is the architecture.

We do not bolt privacy on as a setting. The entire product runs in your browser. There is no server, so there is nothing to leak.

Speed is the product.

Tools that feel instant get used. Tools that feel slow get abandoned. We obsess over milliseconds because that is what makes a tool feel like an extension of your hand.

Restraint over features.

Most tools die under their own weight. We ship one tool at a time, get it right, and only then start the next one. Every feature has to earn its place.

Story

Why we started.

In 2025, one of us was preparing 400 photos for a blog post. The 'free' compressor we picked uploaded them to a server, ran ads on the result page, and asked for an email to 'unlock batch download.'

We tried five more. All of them did the same thing. By the time we had compressed, downloaded, deleted our accounts, and cleared our cookies, it had taken an hour. The compression itself took four seconds.

The fix is obvious in hindsight: do the work in the browser. The browser is the most powerful sandbox in the world, and the user already has it open. We had the WebAssembly codecs we needed. The only thing missing was someone willing to take the time to do it right.

So we did. ToolBox Image is what we wanted to use ourselves. One tool at a time, no upload, no accounts, no email collection, no upsell. Just a fast, private, well-designed way to do the work.
