Every photo you take with your phone or camera embeds hidden metadata called EXIF data. This information includes the camera model, lens type, exposure settings, timestamp, and — critically — the GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken.
What EXIF data reveals
Open any photo's properties and you might find: camera make and model, exact date and time, GPS latitude and longitude, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and even the photographer's name.
Strip EXIF data with ToolBox Image
Our Image Compressor strips EXIF metadata by default on every compression. When you drop an image into the compressor, it removes camera info, GPS coordinates, and all other embedded metadata before creating the output file.
Strip EXIF on different devices
Mac: Use Preview. Open the image, go to Tools → Show Inspector, click Info, and delete location data.
Windows: Right-click the image, select Properties → Details, and click "Remove Properties and Personal Information."
iPhone: Before sharing, tap Options and toggle off "Location" and "All Photos Data."
Any device (online): Use our browser-based compressor. No uploads, no trackers.
